In the Beginning...

I sometimes think I am a closet Luddite. Well, it isn't that I am opposed to technology in general, and I don't have any inclination to go about destroying textile machinery (as the original Luddites did in the early 1800s in England). In fact, I have a great affinity for my many electronic gadgets. But then again, I also recognize that I am woefully behind when it come to being techno- or cyber-savvy. And so it is that I feel inspired to enter the 21st century (hey, I'm only seven years behind -- that seems pretty reasonable for a self-professed master of procrastination) by way of creating a blog.

My interest in doing so was influenced in part by my dear friend Cheryl. As many of you know, Cheryl accomplishes more in a day than most people do in a week. I often joke of my alter-egos, but I think Cheryl really has captured the ability to be in more than one place at one time. Despite such a frenetic existence, she still makes time to write an informative and entertaining blog. (In particular, her son's "Cornucopia of Gratitude" was particularly inspiring to me and I wish to make a similar list of things for which I am grateful, even if not in quite so creative of a manner... but that is a topic for another entry. ) Anyway, if Cheryl can do this blogging thing, I thought, by golly, so can I!

(And you, too, can check out her blog at

I also realized that I often promise to write notes and send pictures to my friends and family, but often do not follow through (as most of you are most certainly aware). A blog, I thought, might be self-indulgent, but it might also be a means for me to share some of the experiences of my life that you can read (or not) at your leisure.

So enjoy the journey of a Willow in the Wind. And please feel free to join the adventures with your own comments and musings.
